This Committee is responsible for monitoring, reporting on, and providing recommendations to the AIPLA Board and the USPTO regarding US trademark law and legislation. The Trademark Law Committee also functions as the oversight committee for the other trademark-related committees, each of which provide input and support to the Professional Programs Committee regarding trademark content at AIPLA meetings.
Key Initiatives
- The Trademark Law Committee serves as the coordinating committee for AIPLA committees which deal with all aspects of trademark law.
- Through its own members and subcommittees, as well as through the other AIPLA trademark committees which it coordinates, this committee considers the laws and treaties of the United States concerning trademarks, trade names and unfair competition involving trade identity; the operations of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in trademark matters; the common law and State statutes concerning trademarks and trade names, and related unfair competition law; the laws of other countries concerning trademarks, trade names and unfair competition which may affect the business of U.S. companies, and coordinates with the International of Foreign Law Committee with regard thereto; and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors in regard thereto.
