Manu Bansal serves as Senior Counsel Intellectual Property - Licensing at GE Licensing.
 
In this position, Manu provides lead counsel on the licensing of standard essential patents (SEPs), including licensing them on Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory terms.  He advises on licensing SEPs through patent pools or other collaborative licensing relationships. An SEP and IP strategy expert with deep, hands-on experience advising transaction leaders on legal matters in real time commercial discussions with third parties.
 
Prior to joining GE Licensing, Manu worked in private practice, most recently at Morgan Lewis and Bockius LLP in its Intellectual Property – Technology practice. There he prosecuted and managed strategic patent filings, and litigated SEP patents directed to the video coding standards and wireless standards, utilizing his deep knowledge and understanding of video standards H.266/VVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, and AV1, and wireless standards (3GPP (5G, 4G, 3G), IEEE 802.11, TSN), and related standard bodies and patent pools. 
 
Manu also worked as a Patent Agent and later an Associate at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, was a Science Advisor with Goodwin Procter LLP, and an Engineer with both Qualcomm and Siemens.
 
Manu has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, SUNY, and a Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School.
