Eric W. Sporre

Federal Bureau of Investigation | Special Agent in Charge, Tampa Field Office

As Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Field Office, Mr. Sporre oversees all FBI investigative matters across central Florida. His area of responsibility includes a main office in Tampa as well as satellite offices in Orlando, Melbourne, Lakeland, Clearwater, Fort Myers and Sarasota. Prior to being selected as Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Division, Mr. Sporre served as Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI Cyber Division where he led all FBI Cyber Division operational sections. Prior to this, Mr. Sporre managed the Cyber Division’s focus areas of cyber terrorism and computer intrusions related to the Middle East and Africa.
 
Mr. Sporre began his FBI career in Miami, Florida, investigating a variety of complex white collar crime matters. In 2003, he was promoted to FBI Headquarters where he served as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Cyber Division. In 2005, Mr. Sporre was selected to lead the Washington Field Office (WFO) computer forensic program. The following year, he assumed responsibility for the WFO undercover and regional backstopping programs. In this position, he managed the development and oversight of WFO undercover operations and the effective backstopping of regional undercover platforms and technical projects. In 2009, Mr. Sporre was selected to serve as an Assistant Legal Attaché in London, England, where his primary focus was counter terrorism. He also served as the primary FBI point of contact for all investigative matters involving the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Sporre served as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the Atlanta Division, leading the Cyber, Counterintelligence, and Administrative Programs.
 
Prior to his FBI career, Mr. Sporre served as a police officer and detective. Mr. Sporre is an attorney, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH). He is also a graduate of the Carnegie Mellon University, Chief Information Security Officer - Executive Education Program.
