Leonor Magalhães Galvão is one of the founding partners of magellan IP and the head of the patent practice of the firm.  She has nearly twenty years of experience in the field of intellectual property and prior to founding magellan IP, Leonor was an associate and a partner at renowned Brazilian intellectual property firms.

She represents important national and international clients, ranging from academic institutions to multinational corporations, acting in the drafting and prosecuting of patents before the BPTO, technology transfer, legal opinions, oppositions, appeal proceedings and general consultancy services in intellectual property.  With a doctorate degree in Biochemistry, she specializes in chemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, immunology, medical devices, diagnostics as well as pharmaceutical products and green technologies.

Leonor regularly presents to audiences worldwide on a variety of topics regarding Brazilian patent law and practice.  She has gained much respect in the profession as chair and co-chair the Biotechnology Committee of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association for over 12 years. In more recent years she has been an active member of AIPPI as a member of the Standing Committee on Pharma and Vice-Chair of Standing Committee on IP & Green Technology.
