Brian has a proven track record of prosecuting patent applications globally and advocating for robust patent rights on behalf of his clients. Building on his foundation as an electrical engineer, he is passionate about learning new technologies and collaborating with engineers and scientists to identify, expand and protect the inventions they develop.
Brian is a co-chair of the Patent Agents of Georgia (PAGA), a subsidiary of the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance. PAGA sponsors, hosts and/or participates in events and activities with a focus on patent agents, technical specialists, licensing associates and other intellectual property professionals in Georgia. PAGA advocates for fair compensation of patent agents and other intellectual property professionals and mentors professionals looking to transition to a career in intellectual property.
Brian previously served as an in-house patent agent with The Coca-Cola Company where he managed the development and maintenance of the global equipment patent portfolio. He also gained experience in managing a global design patent portfolio. In addition, he initiated and led patent review committees, developed training materials and led in-person training sessions, monitored competitive patent portfolios, and advised on patent risks as part of the development and design review process.
He previously served as a Patent Agent at a boutique intellectual property law firm, where he gained experience in managing a patent prosecution docket of several hundred applications and trained professionals in patent prosecution. He worked in technical areas including telecommunication systems and networks, semiconductor testing, software, search algorithms, oilfield technologies and pet products.
Brian has served as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent Trademark Office, where he examined cases involving digital imaging circuits and image processing.
