Rachel C. Hughey is a Partner and Shareholder at Merchant & Gould P.C. in Minneapolis, MN, and a co-chair of her Firm’s appellate practice. She specializes in complex commercial litigation and appellate level disputes, and has tried cases around the country. Rachel writes and lectures widely on all aspects of patent law and appellate practice and procedure and has taught at the University of Minnesota School of Law. She is on a number of boards, including Volunteer Lawyer’s Network, the ACLU-MN, the Hennepin County Bar Association, the Editorial Board for The Federal Lawyer magazine, and the Advisory Board for IP Law360. Rachel has been honored with selections to the IAM “Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners,” Minnesota Lawyer “Attorneys of the Year”, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal “40 Under 40”, Minnesota Law & Politics “SuperLawyers,” and Minnesota Lawyer “Up-And-Coming Attorneys.” Rachel previously clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for the Honorable Alvin A. Rachel graduated, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of Minnesota School of Law and Tau Beta Pi with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
