Ann Pokalsky has been a patent practitioner for more than 25 years. She specializes in the chemical and biological arts, and is co-founding partner of the intellectual property law firm Pokalsky Wilczynski Brozek, LLP, based in Huntington, New York. Ms. Pokalsky focuses her practice in large part on foreign and domestic patent procurement, including reissue applications, reexamination proceedings and appeals. She has obtained numerous patents for clients in the chemical, agricultural and pharmaceutical industries, as well as for universities. She counsels clients on a wide variety of IP law topics, advises on global patent filing and prosecution strategies, and reviews and manages patent portfolios. Her practice also encompasses preparation of inventorship, patentability, invalidity, freedom to operate and non-infringement opinions. Prior to starting her law career, Ms. Pokalsky was a research associate at a biotechnology company, where she co-authored several papers published in peer-reviewed journals and was a named co-inventor on a U.S. patent directed to use of an EF1α gene promoter.
