Wayne Sobon is Vice President, Intellectual Property at JUUL Labs, Inc., based in San Francisco, California. JUUL’s mission is to transition the world’s billion adult smokers away from combustible cigarettes, eliminate their use, and combat underage usage of our products.
Prior to joining JUUL, Wayne served as Associate General Counsel, Chief IP Counsel at Accenture, Inc. for 10+ years; VP and Chief IP Counsel for Rambus Inc., and was in private practice in the Silicon Valley, focusing on intellectual property counseling, patent prosecution and IP litigation.
Wayne graduated from Stanford University in 1985 with Bachelor degrees in Physics and German Studies; and the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 with joint JD and MBA degrees.
Wayne served the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), as board member and President. Wayne also served as a board member at Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), on the executive committee of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel (ACPC), and as a board member for the National Inventors Hall of Fame (Invent Now). Wayne also served two consecutive terms on USPTO’s Patent Public Advisory Committee (USPTO PPAC), earning the Commerce Department’s Gold Medal.
