Article Submission Guidelines

When submitting an article for inclusion in AIPLA INNOVATE, please review and follow the guidelines as set forth below.

  1. Authors must be a current AIPLA member in good standing.

  2. Submissions are encouraged and welcomed from all membership categories—especially students.

  3. Articles are sought on a diverse spectrum of topics addressing the practice of intellectual property law.

  4. Articles should be written in a magazine-like format in content and tone. [Please submit any graphics, illustrations, or images with text to support or enhance your article.]

  5. Authors must be transparent about their involvement in an issue that is the subject of the article—such as involvement in the litigation, admin proceeding, or dispute.

  6. Article submissions should be approximately 1500 words in length.

  7. Articles must use credible sources and use appropriate citations.

  8. All citations should be hyperlinked where possible or placed in the footnotes, even if the authority is mentioned in the text.

  9. Articles must undergo a review process and receive approval for publication.

An ad-hoc sub-committee comprised of members of the AIPLA Special Committee on Publications and Fellows Committee will collectively review all submissions and reserves the right to make alterations and corrections for grammar and syntax.
