Playing to Win: The Art and Power of Negotiation
Negotiation is a part of each of our lives as lawyers, as advocates, business owners, employers or employees. Mastering the art of successful negotiation leads to opportunity, advancement, and higher compensation in our own careers and better outcomes for our clients. Join us as we discuss the behaviors of successful negotiators. We will candidly share triumphs and disappointments and outline the best practices of successful negotiators.
Stephanie Bell Blondell is an Assistant Professor of Law and Practice and Associate Director of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law. She directs the Mediation Clinic as well as reaching Mediation Theory and Practice and Psychology of Conflict.
Denise R. Madigan has been mediating full-time for over 25 years. She entered the field as associate director for the Harvard-MIT Public Disputes Program in the early 1980s, and after practicing law at Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C, joined the pioneering ADR firm, Endispute, Inc., (which later merged with JAMS). She now mediates through her own firm, MadiganADR, based in Los Angeles.
Stephanie and Denise teach the Women’s Negotiation Academy at Pepperdine Law School, an interactive workshop designed with specific tools and techniques to increase your effectiveness as a negotiation. This workshop includes an eye toward the most recent research on gender issues in negotiation.
