AIPLA CLE Webinar: Software Claim Drafting-Comparison between USPTO and EPO
November 9, 2023 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM | Up to 90 Minutes CLE
Registration Closed - The name of the game is the claim. Claim drafting is one of the foundational skills of every patent practitioner focusing on patent prosecution. While building global patent portfolios becomes more and more important to client’s businesses nowadays, knowing the nuances between practices in different jurisdictions is a key to procuring quality patent protection. Criticalities may arise especially in the field of software / computer-implemented inventions (CII). This webinar is Part II of a similar webinar to be held in October in the area of Bio-technology. The webinar takes a comparative approach to discuss claim drafting from the perspective of European practices and US practice. We have invited experts practicing in the respective regions to share their insights. This webinar will be centered on the aforementioned software/CII-related inventions, covering claim scope and inventive steps, clarity vs. sufficiency, and eligible subject matters in these two regions. -

AIPLA CLE Webinar: Protecting Trade Secrets and Confidential Information
August 30, 2023 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM | Up to 90 Minutes CLE
A noncompete agreement is one of several tools that businesses may use to prevent the unauthorized dissemination of confidential and trade secret information to competitors. In recent months, however, the Federal Trade Commission has proposed a new rule to ban noncompetition clauses, reasoning that such limitations restrict worker freedoms and harm competition. The FTC has scheduled a vote on this rule for April 2024. Several states already ban noncompetition agreements, and Minnesota officially joined that group in July of 2023. These changes provide businesses a good opportunity to assess their protection strategies employed for company trade secret and confidential information. -

This webinar will address recent developments and will shine a light on the possible challenges and pitfalls. Learn best practices and drafting considerations that not only put you in a better position during prosecution but ultimately result in stronger claims that survive post-grant proceedings at home and abroad. -
